I have not posted to the Chronicle recently. My mother who lived with us here in Medellin for the last 3 years died on 29 June. She was within a couple of months of topping 100 years and lived a very good life. She died peacefully and well.

I will be returning to posting fairly regularly.

Condolences to you and your family for your loss. I lived in Barichara last winter and am returning in September to continue some permaculture projects there, hopefully. I was also involved in teaching water re-cyling/capture, so hope to further that process as well. I am impressed with your blog… have you and your wife lived in Colombia for a long time?

We have lived in Colombia for a bit more than 2.5 years but I have been visiting here on and off since the early 80’s. My wife is Colombian.

I am very interested to stay in touch with you as we are looking at some permaculture options for our finca. Do you plan to be in Medellin sometime?

Thanks Alex. What kind of work are you doing? I am interested in a wide variety development issues and social justice is an important component.

Robert: Things are coming along well. We are however spending a fair amount of time at our finca getting it ready to rent rooms. This as part of the Parque Arvi/Santa Elena area development project that is moving ahead rapidly. We put off doing much there while my mother was ill and we have a lot of catch up work to do. We will most likely be making that our primary residence in the not too distant future. As broadband has not penetrated the area yet, working on the blog there is SLOW… They have the lines to within a few kilometers however and as soon as service is available and the catch-up is caught up I´ll be more productive.
