Cuts of Beef

The cuts of meat available in Medellin are a bit different that what one finds in the States. I am no expert in area but have tried to make a partial table of comparisons. The prices were taken in one super market during the week of 12 October 2009. The exchange rate was around 1910 peso per dollar. The price is per half kilo or pound.

Thank you very much…We buy the solomito, and no complaints but I do miss cuts for ribeye, nw/kc strips, porter house. etc…

From what I have seen the solomito rarely has as much fat as the cuts you mentioned, at least when bought in the states. I don’t know if that is form grass feeding as opposed to corn feeding or if it the cut. I don’t see a lot of fat on any of beef here.

I think that would be solomito. I can check with Nubia to be sure.
